What are the different Productivity types used for?
ControliQ uses three different measures of Productivity:
- Productivity
- Complex Productivity
- Total Productivity
Which measure you use depends on what you want to do.
Productivity
Productivity is a measure of the amount of work produced compared with time used to complete that work.
Productivity is the main measure used in ControliQ. You can use it to:
- see how well your team members are performing
-
understand the capability of your team
-
help ensure that your team plan is challenging but achievable.
Complex Productivity
Complex Productivity is the overall value derived from the time available.
As Complex Productivity combines Productivity and Utilisation in a single figure, you can use it to see whether you are achieving a good balance between Productivity and Utilisation. For example, you could look at your Productivity and see that it is stabilising over time, but this does not give you the full picture. If you have achieved this stabilisation by varying Utilisation, i.e. using Diverted Tasks to smooth the peaks and troughs in Work In, then Complex Productivity will also vary significantly.
Total Productivity
Total Productivity is the overall value derived from the paid time that was deemed to be under the manager’s control. It is a refinement of Complex Productivity that includes Downtime in the calculation.
You use Total Productivity to see the effect that Downtime, such as sickness and annual leave, has on your overall value add.
