What is a Core Task Group for?

You use Core Task Groups to group related data in reports. This means that when you use the options in reports to view a report item (e.g. Work Out) by task, you will see combined values for the Task Group rather than the individual Core Tasks.

You could use a Task Group for the following situations:

  • If you want to see how much work has been done servicing customer queries, where queries account for several different Core Tasks, then creating a Core Task Group for all the customer query Core Tasks allows you to view the Work In, Work Out and WIP as a combined value.
  • Some organisations like to analyse their activities in terms of value-adding and non-value-adding tasks. You can configure Task Groups for these different categories to perform this type of analysis.
